Planning your Interview Day

Our Interview Day Program begins with a Welcome Dinner hosted by the current residents from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, the evening before your scheduled interview date.  The following morning your Interview Day will start at 8:00 AM with a Welcome Breakfast from the Program Directors and Department Leadership.  Individual interviews will go from 9:00 AM until 12:00 Noon – you will have 4 individual 30-minute interviews.  Following the interviews, you will have a tour of the campus and a luncheon hosted by the residents.  The tour will end back in the Fox-Reich Conference room for a brief closing by the Program Leadership this will conclude the Interview Day at 2:30 PM.  However, we would like to offer an Extended Interview Option to those who are interested.  This option is not mandatory and will not affect your candidacy. Applicants who wish to participate will spend some additional time in an area of particular interest to them.  For planning purposes, the extended interview session will end no later than 4:30 PM.  If you are interested, and if participating won’t jeopardize your travel plans, please include your response in the RSVP Information Section below.

Welcome Dinner Information

The Welcome Dinner will be held from 6:30 – 8 pm at a local Boston Restaurant.  It is not mandatory, just an opportunity to meet the current residents.

Interview Day Information

The Interview Day will begin at 8:00 AM with a Welcome Breakfast by the Program Leadership in the Fox-Reich Conference Room, located in the Department of Psychiatry, Building for Transformative Medicine.  Please see the directions below. 

Directions to BTM Fox-Reich Conference Room – Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Building For Transformative Medicine, 60 Fenwood Road, 4th Floor, Room 4106, Boston, MA 02115

Note: Security Request all applicants please check-in at the Security Desk.  The attendant will grant you access to the R elevators to access the 4th Floor, Neuroscience Admin Office and Dept of Psychiatry.

Upon entering the lobby on the ground level, please approach the security desk in front of you and inform the guard you are here for a residency interview with the Department of Psychiatry.  He/She then will grant you access to the R elevator.  Take the R elevator up to the 4th floor. Exit the elevators and then take 1st right. You will see a set of large double doors, go through these. Follow this hallway ¾ of the way down and take a left into a side hallway.  At the end of this hallway take a right and the Fox Reich Conference Room will be on your left side.  The entrance is the glass door at the end on the left side of the hall. 

The interview day starts at 8:00 AM, and will continue until about 2:30 pm.  After then, applicants have the opportunity to participate in some optional activities should they wish, including tours of facilities not on the regular tour or a chance to meet with possible mentors.

Boston Children’s Hospital Tour – Applicants will tour the Boston Children’s Hospital and Inpatient Psychiatry Unit with the Children’s Faculty and Fellows.  Ends about 2:45 pm.

Faulkner Hospital Tour – Applicants will take the shuttle to Faulkner Hospital Psychiatry Department.  Meet with the Faculty and tour in Inpatient Psychiatry Unit with our current residents. Ends about 4:oo pm.

If leaving for the airport, plan adequate time for traffic, particularly if this is during rush hour times in the AM and PM.

Parking Information

Parking will be available and validated for those who park at The Mission Park Garage, located at 22 Vining Street.  Please let the parking attendant know you are here for a Residency Interview with Psychiatry and provide your name.  They will have a list of all the applicants participating and will validate the parking appropriately. We cannot validate parking at any other garages and the rates average about $40 per day.
